Move over One-dayers...Twenty20 is here!!!
Yesterday's match was arguably one of the best of the world cup series. In normal circumstances, whenever India and Pakistan play each other, the atmosphere is always tense yet electrifying. But twenty20 makes it more so. Its almost as if the the game has adjusted to the fast pace of our lives. They've even included penalty shootouts (which puts the onus completely on the bowler) and sudden death much like soccer.
Typically, yesterday India started by losing a few wickets earlier on, but recovered with Robin Uttapa (promising!) and Dhoni scoring a few quick runs. The pakistani team didn't put up a great show either, mostly because of very good bowling by sreesanth, irfan pathan and harbhajan. I would suppose that having missed a crucial match-winning catch, given 14 runs in the second last over and scored very few runs himself, Ajit agarkar needs to be better at his game. Sometimes i wonder why he's taken anyways. But it was India's luck that Pak couldn't manage to score a run in the last ball and then the match went for a tie. I suppose the pak bowlers must be operating under real pressure, cause they missed all three attempts.
India won. But even if it hadn't, the match was total paisa wasool (even though we didn't really pay for it) ! I suppose Twenty20 will take the passion for cricket to new levels now.
